The thing with the "retired cops" getting "Preferential Treatment" I read in here. Without reading the text of the new law, it seems that the purpose was to make it possible to use retired cops as armed security, maybe the existing laws preclude anyone except badged active duty police from carrying on school property. I don't think they should get any manner of preferential treatment either, if they are qualified they should be allowed to carry wherever anyone else is. If not then they should not.
Could be its just another poorly written law leaving a shitload of loopholes.
I don't have any misgivings about keeping a 48 hr wait, here in Fl its 3 days. Like I posted before, its a minor inconvenience but nothing more and with a CCW there is no wait.
