Road Rage Murder -- Florida
^Robert Doyle, 51, was charged with second-degree murder and three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after shooting and killing Condelario Gonzalez, 44, during a road rage incident in Beverly Hills, Florida.
^Condelario Gonzalez (RIP) was with his wife, eight-year-old daughter and seven-year-old grandson when the shooting occurred.
After shooting Gonzalez to death, Doyle reportedly forced Gonzales' family out of the car and held them at gun point til police arrived.
Such a senseless tragedy. Doyle and his wife were driving a truck with a trailer hitch. Gonzales and his family were on the same road. Both men thought the other was driving aggressively and their wives each called 911 to report the other driver.
Gonzalez followed Doyle to his home to get his info and report him. He told Doyle, "I got your number buddy." Doyle threatened Gonzales with a gun while their wives were trying to diffuse the situation. Gonzales backed away. Doyle then pumped five bullets into Gonzales. A hothead with a gun and a husband/father/grandfather dead.
The sheriff says the case isn't being considered Stand Your Ground because Gonzales was backing away when he was shot (but that doesn't mean a defense attorney won't see it differently).
If Doyle decides to claim self-defense and blame the dead victim, the fact that Gonzales had a previous arrest for reckless driving could help his case IMO. But, it doesn't sound to me like Doyle has much chance of convincing anyone that the shooting death was justified.
