They were going to develop a nuclear weapon...some said within months. Like N Korea, they may (probably) still will but if it slows them down and our gas goes to $2/gallon? 
I think the inspection portions are weak and perhaps we should have held out for more but I don't know if that would have been successful even over weeks/months.
Those that only critique the deal haven't provided an alternative that satisfies me either. Leave the sanctions in place and put the U.S. in charge of bombing them as they get even closer to developing a weapon? After BB!!
I don't think, short of war, you can stop a country hell bent on developing a nuclear weapon. Especially not a country like Iran.
U.S. led military interventions in the region have been oh so successful over the last 12 years though. Look! We gave birth to Daesh!!
