It's allowable to make fun of someone for... well anything at all I guess, and I think we come here expecting it. I guess the thing is, it's kind of weak to mock someone for attributes that they are not ashamed of and really have no reason to be.
I could be mocked for being female, but I wouldn't care. I could be mocked for being 'white' (in quotes because as mixed up as most of our heritages are, it's silly for anyone to claim any particular race) but again, I wouldn't care. I don't like to see outright racism, it angers and saddens me because it is based in ignorance and fear, but I also believe that much of the whole 'PC' movement is bullshit.
Except in the cases of blatant racism (like beating the shit out of someone for being black, or denying them a job based on their skin color), racism comes from both sides. What I mean by that, is... ok, I've always found this a little hard to explain, but if someone uses racial slurs against a person, and the person isn't ashamed of their race, the slurs would be ineffective, like my above examples of someone calling me 'whitey' or 'female'. I think it's ridiculous to go to extremes to try and make up for the bad things that have happened to other races in the past. People using racial slurs just make themselves look stupid.
