What I'm saying is I don't have insurance. When I tell any physician or lab that I don't have insurance they have separate prices for people who self pay and people that have health insurance. If I had insurance they'd bill the insurance company $400 for this x-ray, but my self pay price is 40 bucks. So why the big difference, because it trickles down. Insurance companies are the ones who put a price on these procedures and you pay the price. So you the consumer are under the belief that an x-ray costs $400 bucks when if you shopped around it's only 40.
That's why I say the Insurance and health care systems are so corrupt and in bed together. You pay Oodles of bucks to a insurance company for coverage. The Ins Co makes a deal with the Health Care system that they bill a procedure out at 100x the normal rate. The bill gets sent to the Ins Co, They send you a copy saying the paid all but a fraction of the cost and you must pay that fraction. Usually what the procedure would cost if you walk in off the street and pay cash.
