^ 26-year-old John Felix is the piece of shit who killed the Palm Springs officers. He should have already/still been behind bars on Saturday instead of free to perpetrate more violence, as far as I'm concerned.

Police reportedly initially searched the area around the house for Felix and a 'manhunt' was reported. From what I understand now, Felix was actually still inside the home, heavily armed, and wearing soft body armor. He was shot (non life-threatening wound) and surrendered after a 12-hour stand-off.

Felix is eligible for the death penalty, and prosecutors will make a decision in the next few weeks, District Attorney Mike Hestrin said at a news conference Sunday.

“I will tell you that I consider a brutal murder of a police officer to be a very heinous crime,” Hestrin said. “So I’ll leave it at that.”
