Another case of officers being shot when responding to a domestic disturbance call. "(
This time, it went down in Boston, Massachusetts when officers arrived at what was reported as a dispute between roommates.
Two officers were shot by the suspect who, like in the last case, was wearing a bullet-proof vest and armed with a semi-automatic rifle and lots of ammo.
Several other officers arrived at the scene and, reportedly under gunfire, pulled the critically wounded officers out of the residence. The two wounded officers have undergone surgery. They haven't been identified yet; hoping they pull through.
The suspect ^, 33-year-old Kirk Figueroa, was shot dead at the scene. He was was a city constable. According to City Council minutes, Figueroa was approved to be a constable by the council in April 13 following a background investigation by Boston police.
In 2006, Boston.com reported that constables “carry badges and have arrest powers” and that nearly half had previously been arrested themselves.
The suspect's ElitePolicing.org bio claims that he was a former member of a US Army Reserves military police unit who is trained in martial arts and licensed to work as a bounty hunter in California, along with being certified as both a jail guard and a “Certified Homeland Protection Professional” (CHPP).
I'll post more about the victims and the case when details/updates are available.
