Rochester, NY judge apparently feels above law

Rochester City Court Judge Leticia Astacio has fired her lawyer.
Ed Fiandach, her lawyer, said he was dismissed via a text message from Astacio’s sister late Monday night and that he learned of the development when he looked at his phone Tuesday morning.
“I feel sad,” Fiandach said. “I had a personal connection to her.”
Fiandach, a high-profile lawyer who specializes in drunken driving defense, recalled once having a case in front of Astacio and her calling him to the bench to tell him, “I’m only here because of you.”
He said she went on to explain that a lecture he gave years earlier to her class at Irondequoit High School, when she was a student there, inspired her to become a lawyer.

Just an update on this chick: she rescinded the firing of her lawyer but was given a beat down by the presiding judge, ordered remanded to jail to await the next phase of her punishment and sits there now. So she fired him again. I feel bad for her, she's a mess and a half. That's why they call it addiction...
