That's not what the problem was. Are you aware of the background? He broke the law, he didn't uphold it.
Sheriff Joe should have done his 6-month sentence -- no pardon. President Trump again undermined the judiciary and sent a wrong message to bigots, in my opinion.
Sheriff Joe was convicted of defying court orders over and over and over.......and then tried to claim he didn't understand those orders (which is unbelievable to me).
I wouldn't object if he and his officers had busted people in the commission of a crime (or a suspected crime with sufficient probable cause) and alerted ICE when it turned out that the suspects were in Arizona illegally.
However, that's not what he and his officers did. Instead, they routinely stopped people without probable cause, based only on the fact that they looked Hispanic -- which ain't a crime. That's just racial profiling and discrimination, and it negatively affected a lot of legal residents/citizens of the state.
