At least President Trump's public statement (via tweet) acknowledged that his candidate Moore lost and Jones won. Though Trump's now CYA claiming that he never thought Moore would win, he did congratulate Jones. Good on him for that.
Roy Moore would be wise to follow that lead, man-up, and concede the race. But, of course, that's not the way of Roy Moore.
He refuses to concede and is requesting a recount. He lost by 1.5%, around 20,000 votes. He is not entitled to a tax-payer funded recount since the margin of Jones' victory is not 1% or under.
But, I read that it's possible Moore could pay for a recount. No problem here. I think it would be a waste of time and money, though it might be an effective delay tactic in getting Jones seated.
