Instead of the story of the cock who pecked my eye, I will tell the story of the cock I saved from the fence.
I had come home after school and saw something strange along the fence. I finally realized it was a chicken caught in the string used to keep the bean vines up along the fence. Not only was it a chicken, but it was THE chicken. The one that had attacked me.
In the second that I realized what cock it was, I had looked it in the eye and realized I had to save it. I couldn't leave it there to die.
I dropped my books and I ran into the house. I grabbed a pair of scissors and I walked with them back to the fence, because you know, don't run with scissors when you about to cut a cock off the fence especially.
The unfortunate part of this story is that I couldn't cut the string from the side of the fence I was on. I was going to have to go into the chicken coop to free this thing.
Keep in mind, this is the cock that once attacked me. This cock was mean and vicious and it did not like me and I had the scar on my eye to prove it.
I cautisously opened the gate, closed it behind me and walked up to the cock. I cut the string free and ran the other way. I may or may not have had the scissors in my hand, I might have thrown them on the other side of the fence in fact so that I could run out of there.
The cock ran the opposite direction as well.
I made it to the other side of the fence and I felt pretty good about saving that Damn Cock. No one was there to witness this great deed that I had done.
The next time I had to go into the chicken coop to either feed them or collect eggs, that cock came running up to me and I was so scared. All of the sudden it stopped. And it stood in front of me.
It was protecting me, and it wouldn't let any other chicken near me.

It was the strangest thing. I couldn't explain it or believe it. I thought that thing was going to attack me. I never imagined that it would remember that I saved it from that fence. I don't know how long it had been stuck that day either. But I was glad that I rescued it and didn't leave it there to die.
