I drove a few hundred miles to Pahrump, the gateway to Death Valley. It was a joy driving in the desert during a rainstorm, opened my windows and the acrid odor of creosote blended with the sweet smell of Sage stirred by Ozone filled the cab. The desert was Green and thriving from all the rain we got, it then turned into this apocalyptic moonscape of towering denuded bluffs. During the summer you would be in real trouble if you broke down without a gallon of water.
Unfortunately that also meant the road was flooded in dozens of areas and really slowed what had been a very fast pace. I stopped at Terribles Casino and had a great "Smashed Cheeseburger" and homemade french fries. Played Wheel of Fortune slots for hours on the same hundred bucks.
The firework warehouse is beyond belief, thousands of varieties of skyrockets, mortars, humongous firecracker, buzz bombs, roman candles you name it. Hopefully the show will go on tonight.
Rented an airbnb, someones back house aka Casita. Full kitchen, two porches, wiFi, jacuzzi tub, large shower, coffee, snacks, ice etc. Extremely clean and everything in order. Very nice!
