I inadvertently saw a burned koala.  

Its being reported that about a third of the koala population has perished in fires since October. They are a serious chance of making critically endangered lists.

Conservative estimates are saying over two billion animals in total have burned.

That's so fucking sad.  

I heard a couple of weeks ago that most of the fires were caused by arson.  But, yesterday I read that's very misleading -- while human activity is a factor in many of them (as is the case everywhere), only about 10% were caused deliberately.

10% is still too high; way less disturbing than the previous narrative though.
