I know when I'm approached, and in downtown San Diego, it is somewhat frequent, I will hand over change or a couple of bills to the needy and less fortunate.
In all honesty, I hope they purchase booze with it. It's not like most of them are a hot meal away from turning their lives around. If a little novacaine will get them through a night, so be it.
The trick in giving is not to agonize over who is worthy of your donation and who isn't but rather simply getting in the game.
Helping others is a small price to pay for what we get in return. For what we get in return is hugh. The rest is all vanity.
