Truly a narcissistic attitude on your friend's part to think he could change his (imaginary) God's mind.
Like God had one course of action planned but through your friend's "prayer for you" he could talk God into doing something else.

You have much more patience than I.

That's something that fanatics fail to realize, that if there is indeed some sort of 'God', it wouldn't need their help to change whatever plans it already has in action.

You take charge of your own path and change your own life, not try to change the lives of others.
