MF, long straight hair with bangs is modern. It's always modern.
Sally, your problem is you straighten it and live in high humidity year round. It'll never not 'poof' on you.
Do like me, layer it up, very long layers, keep the length and use the serum. Let it air dry and then 'fluff' it with the dryer or your fingers at the scalp only after it's dry.
You're damaging your hair with all the blow drying and straightening and no amount of serum will smooth it.
If that's out of the question, apply the serum while you're still in the shower and your hair is soaking wet. It'll distribute more evenly and let it air dry to about 90% before straightening it with the dryer.
The brush you use also makes a huge difference. Get a soft bristle brush to pull it straight. Avoid metal heat type brushes.
