Couple of points here. My mom was a heavy smoker. Back in the mid 70s, when she was diagnosed with bladder cancer, her doc told her to quit smoking--which she did, for a while. But then when he could not assure her that her smoking directly caused her cancer, or that quiting would help her live beyond the, at the time, 5 year life expectancy, she pretty much said fuck it, I am smoking. She did not smoke as much, but she started again. And BTW..died just a few weeks short of the 5 year anniversary of her diagnosis.
Another point...Dana Reeve (Christophers wife) who never smoked a day in her life, died from lung cancer.
I do not smoke, and do not condone smoking...but it just seems for every "smoking causes cancer" argument, there is a rebuttal.
