When I do a laptop screen replacement, I sometimes just have the customer order the screen from Ebay directly, then I install it for them.
Then you have to look at shipping costs, unless you get someone local to replace it for you. You should call around and get some estimates (unless the laptop is still under warranty, and the warranty may or may not cover a cracked screen).
It's not a cheap repair, but it's generally cheaper than a new laptop.
