I'm with you and Dick, Maggot. Silence keeps the corrupt bastards in office.
I do what I can too. One voice does sometimes make a difference and I often write letters to my local politicians expressing my feelings toward what I'd like to see him or her do on an upcoming vote.
I was terribly skeptical when my local congressman was replaced by the opposing party's candidate but he's proved himself that he will listen to the people. He's voted twice against the health care bill and he has been doing this community's bidding as best he can. I applaud that becuase in this very one sided political time that speaks volumes.
I feel if someone is not going to vote, then they must be satisfied with the situation. They are simple enough to let others make decisions for them. If they complain to me, I politely tell them to shut it. EVERY person who's told me they don't vote because it doesn't matter, or none of the politicians on the ballot are no good, crooked etc, I remind them there is ALWAYS a space to write in your choice. Fuck, you can write yourself in if you're stuck.
Those who vote the odds are even worse in my opinion.
These people work for us, not the other way around and until people start voicing their dissatisfaction, these pricks will continue to do what they please. We've only ourselves to blame for keeping quiet.
