People don't see how much they are like sophisticated primates, they want to feel separate from the animal world and not just be another species. So when we see a woman breastfeeding I believe it hits upon that nerve.
I think that's a small part of it. I think religious upbringing for many has instilled shame for things we shouldn't be ashamed of. Nakedness, breastfeeding, kissing in public.
Of course like Duchess says, doing things in poor taste is never acceptable but I see nothing wrong with a woman sitting in a quiet spot to nurse her baby. I mean why wouldn't you want a quiet area to feed the kid? Don't babies desire a comfortable atmosphere too?
People groping and slobbering and getting it on as if you are expecting them to tear their clothes off and fuck right there is disgusting too.

I'm with you on that. Animals know enough to wean their young when they start cutting teeth and eating solid food. I honestly don't see the benefit for older kids to be nursing past a year old. They stop drinking milk and start on water too.
We're the only species that drinks milk for the sake of it. And we're the only species that drinks the milk of another species.
