Yeah, they can, just like people and it's just as sucky with a beloved pet. Bela is so lucky to have you! You're a blessing to her. I hope that knowing she will be well cared for by her vets has brought you some comfort. It is so hard to see our pets in distress. Ugh. I won't presume to know your pain & worry, but I know what it's like to deal with health issues in an animal you love.
