Victim blaming has been normalized to the point of absurdity. A tight skirt isn't permission to rape or grope any more than a penis is permission to forego accountability for one's behavior. We spend so much time and energy telling women how to avoid assault we forget to tell men  how to avoid assaulting. Full stop. I'm a man. Been one my whole life, and I've been both immature as fuck and desperate to fuck, sometimes simultaneously. And as I've said before, guilty of a lot of the verbal shit women have to deal with daily. I'm not preaching from some high horse, I'm just acknowledging that, as a gender, we've been "that fuckin douchebag" for far too long and maybe we ought to stop pretending that equates to manhood. And stop making excuses for it.

I’d guess almost every woman here has a story or stories plural of varying levels of assault by men that we just live with. Way too normalized part of being a woman.
