Here's a real life math (word) problem.

I can't find a solution. Any ideas?

"A sells a property to B, in 2012. In 2017, B finds copies of letters, dated and addressed to A, from 2013 - 2017, within the property purchased from A. As the sale from A to B occurred in 2012, how is this possible? "
