My job won't last that's true. 12.5 years until retirement. Can't wait until I'm 62 and collecting Social  security and a pension.

My opinion is irrelevant and I understand that. Having said that, I've always thought that taking that state job is one of the best decisions of your life. I know someone who retired from a state job and he is set for the remainder of his life.

Agree, I know several retired people that had “state jobs” and they now get great pensions, and more important, get paid medical benefits! If you can stick it out to retire, you’re all set!
