Okay Duchess, are you ready for this?
I think I've switched sides. I've changed my mind on this. But not entirely! Only in certain situations.
I will explain and give some background.
In this area there are 2 communities. 1 is a national park area that also has people living in the area whose families have grown up on this land.
The other area is a Lutheran retreat center that used to be a mine, the mine is now closed and has been cleaned up.
The community that lives near the park is both conservative and not conservative, its a small mix of what you might find in any community in America. The town is mostly white with a mix of some who are not white. There are several artists here, at least 1 gay couple, and many seasonal workers who are only here from May-Oct.
The Lutheran retreat center is home to workers who stay for a couple of years and then move on and then also some seasonal workers that may stay anywhere from a couple of weeks to 1 year. It is very liberal, open, there are artists as well and several people that would identify as gay, LGBTQ etc etc (Not sure how to label everything sorry) (The lutheran retreat center is also mostly white. I'm not sure why I even mentioned race at all, I just did)
So all of these people must travel on the boats together to get to where they are going, unless they have thier own boat-not many do.
The other day there were some people from this retreat center, guys, dressed as women, or wearing women's clothing. maybe there was a guy in jeans, but then had a tutu on.
I saw what this looked like in the eyes of a conservative family guy with some kids. I really saw it and now I can't unsee it.
I feel like when you are up at the retreat place-its fine, be wierd, be strange, let your freak flag fly. But maybe when traveling on public transportation-just dial it down a little.
The conservative guy that thinks its wierd isn't bad, he is just trying to live his life and raise his family.
Is this different in the city? Yes. Is it really wierd out in the middle of the woods. Yes.
I think drag queens are fine. I really didn't want to put this in this thread-which is about "who are the people who are pediphiles" (sp?) But I just needed to get it out.
