Their father, their own father. This is so awful.
Three Wenatchee girls missing since Friday were found dead Monday in a campground outside of Leavenworth in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest.
Authorities held a search and rescue for Monday evening to Rock Island campground near Icicle Road in Leavenworth Olivia, 5, Evelyn, 8, and Paityn, 9, who were reported missing after their father, Travis Decker, 32, failed to return the girls to their mother following a scheduled visitation Friday.
Decker picked up the girls around 5 p.m. May 30 in Wenatchee and reportedly did not share where he planned to take them, according to a news release from the Wenatchee Police Department. The four were last seen traveling in a white 2017 GMC Sierra which was found unoccupied near the Rock Island campground.
About 3:45 p.m. Monday, a deputy Decker's pickup near the Rock Island Campground off of Icicle Road. Authorities responded and searched the campground during which they discovered the bodies of the three missing girls.
The cause of the deaths was not immediately available. Decker was not located.
The Washington State Patrol posted online around 8 p.m. that the missing person alert was canceled.
Decker is wanted on three counts of first-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping. He was charged Monday in Chelan County Superior Court with three counts of first-degree custodial interference.
Decker is a former member of the military with extensive training, according to the release. It’s unclear if he is currently armed, but authorities say he could pose a serious risk if approached.
