Yeah.... well, I wasn't trying to be morbid. Just saying, if it's not something you're aware of, ya should be. Knowledge is power and all that, ya know?
Apparently, most of the problems occur because either the water isn't warm enough, or the mother raises her pelvis up out of the water as the baby's head comes out and the cool air hits its face, then she puts it back under the water.
That only happens when the birthing tub is too shallow, like a bathtub, which is why I mentioned it. I'm sure you will be careful though. I know there toward the end, I was pretty much going into panic mode trying to push my son out. His heart was getting thready... I'd been pushing a long time... I was getting tired.... fortunately he finally popped out. They had to cut me, even though I requested not to be (cut). The midwife said "If you don't let me cut you a little, he's not coming out of there".
My son was 9lbs 7oz though. =p
