The Senate is expected to vote on proposed amendments to the current First Step legislation as soon as tomorrow, before taking a final vote on the bill.
Among the amendments being pushed by Senators Cotton and Kennedy:
--Reduce the list of serious/violent crimes eligible for early release.
--Inform the victims or their families of when offenders are released early.
--Make publicly available rearrest data for those released early, as well as information on prior offenses.
The amendment votes are expected to be held with a simple majority threshold, meaning at least a few GOP senators would need to join with all Democrats to block them from getting added to the bill.
