There's an interesting aspect to Dorner's actions that I have been considering.
That is the amount of manpower and dollars being spent in the pursuit of one "heavily armed" individual with military and police training.
There is certain legislative action being discussed in California that would possibly lead to the confiscation of assault rifles from law abiding citizens.

What would happen if LEO were dispatched to dozens or hundreds or thousands of homes to confiscate assault rifles??? How many citizens would voluntarily give up their legally purchased and held firearms?
Granted, this is obviously an extreme case scenario, but still it makes me wonder.
