I view them as thugs with no respect for life regardless of the color of their victim.

I agree with this 100%. Thugs be thuggin'.

But the gesticulation everyone goes through to make sure black on white crime is not about race is very peculiar to me... because when the reverse is true, the usual immediate reaction is that it is somehow connected to race.
