I wondered at the time if I was being melodramatic, but I could feel my spirit groan with discomfort at the terrible misuse of the Holy Word. It is a spiritual book and can come alive for you if you are open to it. The suffering Jesus went through for us, is not trivial and his selfishness and vanity does not take priority over Bible. Just hideous.
