I have known hundreds of attorneys over the past 40 years and not a single one cared one bit about their clients reputation. The only thing they cared about was when the check cleared.

I disagree. There are respectable attorneys out there who have spent their entire professional life building a good reputation and accept clients based on keeping it. Very good attorneys have the luxury of declining clients that don't suit their image and then there are attorneys from high profile firms that have shareholders who need to be taken into consideration as well.
