Look up cross-immunity. It's a complex subject but the existing literature suggests conclusively, IMO, that mutations are *not* the threat that they're being made out to be.
You should also look up T-cell memory, which is related to cross-immunity. T-cell memory is what matters, *not* the presence of antibodies, or lack thereof.
