Even a complete ban will not stop a nutter who is determined enough to get their hands on assault weapons but I think its up to the laws of a sensible society to make it as hard as possible for them to do so.
And you are of course 100% correct MS no one “needs” an AR-15 when I hear the gun nuts (and I'm sorry but if you feel the “need” to own assault weapons you ARE a gun nut) try and justify owning one it just sounds to me like an obnoxious brat in a toy store stamping their little foot “but I NEED it!”
I think you are right though unless one of the high ranking NRA members loses a kid to a lone wolf spree killer nothing will change. I'm not even sure the loss of a kid would change their minds they are that fixated and obsessed with guns its pathetic.
