Child Pornographer: Busted!

Great to see global LE investigators working together and the public stepping up to catch these ASSHOLE child abusers.

A young girl believed to have been the child being abused in the videos was found, and she is now considered safe.

Danish investigators first uncovered the child pornography on the internet. With no idea who was involved or where it was generated, the Danish investigators examined the video closely for clues. They saw a Pretzel bag and worked with the pretzel manufacturer to determine that the packaging type was only sold in the US. Danish authorities then contacted investigators in the US who released photos of the unidentified man and asked the public for tips.

David J. Stevens, 58, was arrested by Salinas police and agents with Immigrations and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations on Wednesday afternoon, a little more than 24 hours after the federal agency asked the public’s help in identifying him.

“Without the public's help we would not have solved this case,” he said.

According to the criminal complaint filed by HSI in Washington, D.C., four videos of child pornography with date stamps of April 14 and 27 were first discovered by the Danish National Police on May 3 and referred to U.S. law enforcement for further investigation.

Following Stevens' arrest, investigators obtained a search warrant for the defendant's Salinas residence where they seized additional evidence related to the case.

At his arraignment Thursday in federal court, Stevens pleaded innocent to charges related to sexual exploitation of children. He was ordered held without the right to bail and is due back in court on June 6.

Based upon interviews with witnesses, HSI special agents believe there may be additional unidentified child victims and are asking anyone with further information regarding Stevens, of Salinas, to call ICE's tip line - 1-866-347-2423 or the Salinas Police Department's Investigations Division at 1-831-758-7226.

Oh please, we obviously need to study them more! Forget their near guaranteed recidivism. We need to try harder. We need to understand them, treat them, and re-integrate them into society. We need to re-double our efforts, because although we've been trying for years we just haven't perfected the proper treatments.

I agree they are predators they are ALWAYS going to be a danger to children. They need to be securely segregated from society for the rest of their lives or they could choose a bullet to the back of the head.

Although giving them a choice none of their victims had is probably too much of a concession.

I know. I see some people who are products of childhood sexual abuse and their lives are ruined. I really hope there are many success stories because some of the fallout from the damage souls I have seen is really heartbreaking.

To be honest, I would never advocate seriously anyone being killed by another human being. But it feels good when I say it.

Its the victims who need help, sympathy and counselling not the scumbag perpetrators.

My life experience and observation has led me to believe that violent criminals are without question damaged beyond repair or rehabilitation. The only sensible thing for a responsible society to do is to remove these violent criminals PERMANENTLY. People can debate whether it's by death or lifetime incarceration, but their removal from society is imperative. One strike as a violent criminal and you are finished. I don't care if you're on drugs, were beaten by your Dad, bullied, or were born an asshole. Conform, or be banished. Period.

Imagine the relief that would be felt in so many cities and towns across the world where the violent criminal element is removed. Imagine the added benefit society would reap by actually ending a cycle of violence that creates additional violent criminals. Imagine how much easier it would be to treat the root causes that spawn violent criminals when you dramatically reduce the number of violent criminals in society to deal with.

Unfortunately, bleeding hearts will always be the cause of this never happening. There is always some reason the violent criminal became that way... we should show compassion... be understanding... allow them to serve their time and then get another chance. Over, and over, and over again.

So unfortunately they will continue to prey on us, our children, our neighbors. Very sad.

The human rights act in Europe is blind because it insists EVERYONE should have their so called human rights protected including criminals.

I say a criminal is abusing and ignoring the human rights of his victim therefore if he is violating someone elses rights by targetting them he shouldn't expect to have his human rights protected when he is convicted.

You can't have it both ways if you are prepared to violate the human rights of your victim then you forfeit your right to the protection of your human rights.

Hopefully when the UK leaves the EU we will tear up the human rights act and start again from scratch.

I would make prisons hellholes as well, no televisions, radios or books to read when the inmates aren't outside working or eating or showering they can sit in their cells staring at the blank walls thinking about the crimes they have committed.

By the time they leave prison i want them to have in their heads the thought “there's no way in hell I'm going back inside that hellhole!”

That makes me remember a case in here, can't recall which one, the attorney petitioned the court for something because his client who was incarcerated was unhappy. You're supposed to be unhappy in the slammer for christssake.

That would be for the tax cheats, petty thieves, and non-violent offenders.

The violent fuckers who don't get executed should be put in a self contained 10x10 cell that has a shower, toilet, cot, proper ventilation, and a small sliver window that can't be opened. They walls should be painted white, and they are not allowed to hang anything on them. They should remain in that cell 24 hours a day until they die. No outside contact, no outside exercise yard, no visitors. No music, no television, no computers. 2 meals a day delivered through the door.

Once they walk in after intake, the next time they leave the cell will be on morgue stretcher.
