My father died 18 years ago. My mom died last week. It so weird being in her house with her gone. It almost doesn't seem real. My moms mom lived to be 93. Ed thought my mom would live that long as wellbut that's what smoking will do to you. I keep expecting her to call me and ask what me and the boys are up to.
Do you still have your parents?

My mom is alive, my dad passed away within weeks of his diagnosis...much like your mom and LC.
I remember LC wondering why the doctors hadn't found her cancer sooner since it was seemingly "everywhere". The same was true for my dad. Matter of fact, they attributed his massive weight loss to depression and put him on anti-depressants just a couple of months before he died.

I feel very fortunate as I still have both my parents and they're relatively (mid-60's) young.
Both live nearby and I'm grateful.

My dad is 76 and still working in Bolivia on oil field equipment. My mom died on my 41st birthday, that was 14 years ago. It took 2 years before I quit picking up the phone to call her on sundays.
It will pass, eventually. Sorry for your loss.

My mom is alive but battling cancer, She also broke her hip and I just brought her home from rehabilitation today and she's in a wheel chair now. My dad died at 47 from overdosing on Dilaudid. I was close to him so that was hard on me for a while, eventually the tears dry up and you stop thinking about it 24/7.

Both my elderly parents are still alive, if that's what you can call it. They both are very frail, very weak, never go anywhere, have too many issues to list, and are just waiting.
It saddens me every time I visit them, seeing them in the poor condition they are in. But I have to visit them, I just have to. (I call them every Sunday, as unfortunately, 1,400 miles separates us)
Every now and then, when I see they are calling me, before I answer, I can't help but think, is this it?

Sorry for your loss Ramsey.

According to blue tiki and other members your dad was a cowardly selfish no good piece of shit just like my grandad.

My best friend dying last night, made me want to send my folks a big bouquet of flowers.
For them to be able to enjoy the flowers while they can still "see" them!
I sent them a really, really big one! (Their aide will have to change the water in it for them)

My sincere condolences for your heartache of losing your mother.
Cancer does suck.
I've witnessed the deaths of my biological parents, my father and my MIL and FIL.
It's a wonder I'm not nicknamed the Grim Reaper.
May your mourning be filled with fond memories and laughter between the tears.

Thank you Tiki.
It still seems unreal. When I walk in her house I expect to see her sitting at the table doing her puzzles with her coffee and ciggs. I hate going through her things. It feels disrespectful.

I remember LC "hated doctors", and didn't voluntarily go for regular checkups. She said she had to be dragged and forced to go. By the time she was forced to go, it was too late.

A piece of advice.....don't put off things you want to say to someone. You may run out of time. There is so much I wish I had said to my mom. I thought I had time. Now it's too late. I tell her now and hope she can hear me. But I will never know for sure.

My mom's still kicking but not quite as high as she used to.
