Yeah addicts are of course well know for their complete inability to keep their addictions secret from their family and friend!
You do realise the vast majority of addicts indulge their addictions only when they are alone? And have you ever heard of a “functioning” alcoholic or drug addict? That means they indulge their addictions in secret and carry on their lives/careers without anyone realising.

The circumstances surrounding his controversial life and death and the spectacular way he died has riveted my attention to any factual information that would solve this mystery. I feel the same way about JFK and it's still unsettled in my mind 50 years later.

You really want to compare the assassination of JFK to the death of a controversial hack?

I wasn't equating the two events only saying the manner of death, the controversy and spectacle have me very interested in more info.

You do realize that many addicts with a history of sobriety that spans many years do continue being straight & sober through good times & bad. Not every person with an addiction falls off the wagon as I think you are suggesting.

I'm not saying that.
I'm saying once an addict always an addict.
An alcoholic who hasn't had a drink in ten years is still an alcoholic.

I agree with that statement.

I've got to be careful with the sauce myself, I've seen a time where I would drink everyday. It can be a slippery slope if you start to notice you need a couple more drinks to get the same level of buzz you were getting six months ago without those two extra drinks.
It can sneak up on you.
I sometimes worry about Sal and her daily beer buzz.

That is so true, it is really sneaky. You really have to have insight and realise when you are drinking too much and it turns out to be a habit. I have had times in my life where I was drinking heavier than I should have. In the middle east the stuff is like rocket fuel because it is home made. Not good. There are many who are on that slippery slope over there.
These days, I feel like I am too old, I just can't cut it anymore.
