. . . . . . . . . . . This is the shortest video you've ever seen. hah

Click the link, watch carefully, the video is only 4 seconds long, but, you'll get it, maybe.

If you're younger than 40 years old, you probably won't understand it.

Ha! It's amazing to me how technology has so totally and quickly changed in the last 25 years. I was dazzled by car phones and look what's happened to those!

Heh! Very good..

We got a delivery this week of 'The Yellow Pages'. I remember when the Sydney yellow pages were two volumes A-K, L-Z and were both A4 size, four inces thick each. The latest one is half the size, all in one.

I picked it up at the gate and walked up the drive and put it straight in the recycle bin. Who uses a phone book these days?

I didn't. It worked fine for me when I saw it but you're welcome anyway I guess. Smiley_emoticons_wink

I've got no use for them and sigh when I see 2 each sitting on my front steps and in front of the office door. Straight into the recycle bin here too.

But, I should really be advertising in the hard copy Yellow Pages. Senior citizens still use the book a lot and I've had more than a couple get a little irritated that they couldn't find my business listed there after having lost my card or misplaced my number.

Mostly it's social workers, discharge planners, and adult children that contact me for service through on-line advertising and word-of-mouth, on behalf of their patients or parents. But, I'm sure I'm losing some potential business from seniors who do their own old-school style research.

Cars: the OP made me laugh. We had to take typing in 8th grade and were required to type some research papers in high school. I'd forgotten all about the carriage return (and hated changing the damn ribbon!).

Yes a thing of the past. Eventually, it will cause the loss of many jobs, those who print them & those who deliver them. Progress, a good & bad thing.

Cars, I fixed the link because I thought Members would be more apt to click on something they could see rather than clicking on a link.

OK thanks Ms D, it was fixed right after user's post, so I assumed wrong.

We still advertise in the phone books and I track the advertising so I know people still use them. They are the biggest rip off, especially AT&T. The sales reps will try to talk you into all kinds ads that you don't need and then add additional listings to your contract that you didn't even ask for. I will be happy when they all eventually do go out of business.

I was surprised at how expensive a YP ad was when I took one out my first year in business. Got charged for a bunch of options that I didn't specify and never did get a credit. They do the same shit with the on-line Yellow Pages; when the sales reps call, I can't hang up fast enough.

That's why I don't advertise in the Yellow Pages, even though the new business from the ads would likely exceed the ad cost at this point. Now I just do my own internet ads and hone the key words so we appear at the top of search results, as best I can.
