I was 15 when Suicidal Tendencies and Pantera were really popular. And I think I was 13 or 14 when I started listening to Anthrax, Overkill and Exodus. That was when we still had cassette tapes and rolled them up with a pencil when they got all fucked up in the car stereo.

I haven't been to a metal shows in years, but the last ones were Slayer, Hed PE and Overkill and everyone was old. I didn't see anyone that looked under 30 and most looked over.

Some music is timeless and when you go to a concert and see lots of young people you know it is. I saw Ian Anderson a few years ago and there were quite a few young people there. He was very good considering his age and he played well never skipping a toot on his flute.
