I'm not voting, I don't even know what, if anything, that's going on. I don't have one freakin' clue nor do I care right now.

Mayor and aldermen today. Schools are closed, I'm going after work.

I brought my Daughter to show her what its all about and to explain that many people died so we could vote. She said "but its only one vote" I told her it may be only one but it is still a persons duty to vote. If only one person voted they would decide who writes the laws and that would be a dictatorship.

NEW JERSEY:


Governor Chris Christie and family
Republican Chris Christie was re-elected as Governor of New Jersey. No surprise there.

Christie's landslide gubernatorial victory and bi-partisan focus are expected to strengthen his position as a 2016 presidential candidate.


VIRGINIA:


Governor Terry McAuliffe with Hillary Clinton
Democrat Terry McAuliffe was expected to trounce incumbent Republican Governor Ken Cuccinelli. McAuliffe's campaign outspent Cuccinelli's by $15 million and early polls showed McAuliffe beating Cuccinelli by double digits.

But, it didn't go down as expected - it was a very close election with McAuliffe (also a family man) defeating Cuccinelli by only a couple of points. Why? Because a lot of Virginia voters agreed with Cuccinelli's rejection of Obama Care.


NEW YORK:


NYC Mayor, Bill de Blasio and family
Liberal Democrat Bill De Blasio won by a landslide over Republican candidate and former Giuliani adviser Joe Lhota. De Blasio's opposition to "stop and frisk" laws and his pledge to narrow the gap between the haves and have-nots were key points to his winning campaign.

Earlier in the race, after Weiner dropped out, openly lesbian Democrat Christine Quinn had hoped to be the first female mayor of the city, but her ties to Bloomberg (especially in voting to approve 3^rd terms that benefited her and Bloomberg) worked against her.

Much is being made in the media about De Blasio's election marking the first time a Democrat has been elected to mayor of NYC in two decades. But, IMO, Bloomberg was a party-hybrid. He was a long time Democrat before switching to Republican to run for NYC mayor. Bloomberg's positions on marijuana decriminalization and gun control and some other issues were very much in line with most of the Democratic platform and in opposition to the majority of other Republicans anyway.


COLORADO:


Pot-tax advocates win

Well, it didn't take long. Those lobbying to tax newly legalized recreational marijuana sales in the state defeated their opponents. A 25 percent tax will be invoked.

Also, the measure to have some rural Colorado counties secede from the rest of Colorado was defeated; the state of Colorado remains as one.

The biggest race in this county was for Mayor of the city of Rochester. I am in the suburbs, so out of that one. A bit controversial, this one. The sitting mayor lost the primary, and then said he would not run on 3^rd party due to family issues. BUT some folks decided to put him on the ballot anyway, though he said he would not actively campaign.
Then on Monday, he said, well, if I win I will serve. He lost though.

Mayor McCheese won, 3^rd time, he makes a funny face when I say that but he knows I like him. He stopped the schools from saying my kids could not bring their own lunch.

There was nothing remotely interesting on our local ballot (that I saw). I didn't vote this time.

BOSTON:

This year the longest-serving mayor in the city's history, Thomas Menino, decided not to seek re-election after 20 years in office. Incumbent mayors in Boston are rarely defeated.

Boston's political scene is crowded with Democrats of Irish descent. One of them, Marty Walsh, a legislator and labor leader whose campaign was funded by a huge amount of union donations/support, beat out City Councilor John Connolly by 4 points.

This is the man who Joe Biden called to congratulate for winning Boston's mayoral election, Marty Walsh (president of Gateway Public Solutions):


Yeah, Joe plays a major role in national security. Ah well, no big whoop.


I guess then-legislator now-mayor Marty Walsh need not worry that his cell calls were being monitored.

I you don't think any of the candidates are worthy of your vote then don't vote otherwise you are just voting for the candidate you dislike the least is an exercise of self deceit and pointlessness and nothing whatsoever to do with democracy. The right to vote includes your right NOT to vote imagine an election where NO ONE voted? The politicians might actually pull their collective heads out of their arses and listen to the people for once.
