A Utah federal judge just overturned a portion of a law that prohibits polygamy in the state.
The lawsuit was filed by Kody Brown and his four wives - they're the subject of a reality show called, "Sister Wives".
They have 17 kids and are members of a fundamentalist branch of the Mormon Church known as the Apostolic United Brethren Church.
Brown and family are grateful for the ruling. Brown's response: "Many people do not approve of plural families," he said, but "we hope that in time all of our neighbors and fellow citizens will come to respect our own choices as part of this wonderful country of different faiths and beliefs."
Some on the religious right are, of course, displeased. Russell Moore, of the Southern Baptist Convention weighed-in: "Polygamy was outlawed in this country because it was demonstrated, again and again, to hurt women and children. Sadly, when marriage is elastic enough to mean anything, in due time it comes to mean nothing."
Having more than one legal spouse (or being one of a number of spouses) is not something that appeals to me - sounds miserable.
But, if these adult fundamentalists wanna go there, for religious or other purposes, and can do it without expecting separate benefits for each spouse or expecting to collect support for their huge clans, I don't really give a shit about their lifestyle choices and what they raise their kids to believe is none of my business. (Bigamy, fraudulently being married to more than one person at a time, is still outlawed.)

What do you think about plural marriage?

I'm no Fundamental Baptist, but I do agree with the viewpoint that plural marriage will no doubt be detrimental to women and children (especially the children).
I think it sucks and should have been ruled illegal.

I dont see a problem with it myself. As long as all involved are happy, why not?

I don't care what consenting adults do as long as they're not abusing their kids. But I've watched that show a couple of times and what a bunch of annoying pricks they are. Especially him, he's such a douche bag.

I don't care what those people do. I'd go without having a man rather than having one to share. Fuck that.

I had homemade pecan pie at a Christmas celebration on Saturday.
Were it not for politeness and calories, I woulda devoured the whole damned thing without leaving the slightest of slices for anyone else.

I love it, too.
My mom doesn't bake, but my best friend's mom always made pecan pie and sweet potato pie on the weekends when we were in high school. I hadn't had either in forever.
Now, I've got sweet potato pie on my mind. I'm gonna mention my hankering to my older sister when I call her tomorrow - she's a great cook and loves to bake. With any luck, homemade sweet potato pie for New Years.

Some new lingerie?, a little roleplay to spice things up?, massage oils? You might get it more often!

I'm fine with polygamy as long as women are allowed to do it as well.
Oh but of course a woman with 5 husbands is a whore right?
Hmmmmm....

I wouldn't call her a whore. I would call her a busy lady though. I wonder how she would find time to cook, clean and do the laundry?

Well, why do you think she'd wrangle up 5 husbands?
Each would naturally be qualified in all areas, but having his own specialty.
1. The cook
2. The cleaner
3. The launderer
4. The shopper
5. The handy man (this is the most fun and is a catch-all rotating position; the handy man is selected weekly based on performance and the wife's particular preference and taste at the time).
