Hacked Credit Cards
#1
Well, my step daughter in law and her husband both had their cards hacked with this whole Target mess. All they got from Target was a "we sorry" mass emailing, and a reminder to "keep an eye on their accounts". Today my DIL heard from her bank that they had blocked someone from charging a $1500 plane ticket and have canceled her card and are sending her a new one.
Several years back she was "lucky" enough to be scammed out of $1400 when a smaller chain got hacked. THAT chain sent profuse apologies, totally refunded her lost money and gave her free credit card monitoring. Christ .

Whenever I can I deal only in cash.

I do no online transactions anymore either.

I got a phone message at home last week from someone purporting to be a Denver Police investigator alleging that someone had my bank info and to please call. SO, I did a reverse lookup on the phone number, Hmmm, Denver cell phone. So next I called the Denver police and asked to be connected to officer what sit, He answered the phone, cool.
So, why ya need? He says they jacked some meth head that has on her person 2 sheets of paper covered in names, bank account numbers and routing numbers, Holy shit, she had mine. So I got o looking and apparently she/they have not been able to do anything with it. I went back through march this year and nothing out of line thank god.

Hacked "Target" records was reported to have happened between November 27th, and December 15th.

Damn, I rarely ever shop at Target. However, our Grandson loves Target, so went to Target on December "12"th to get him a Target "gift card" for Christmas, that was charged on my AE card. So now my card is supposedly at risk! Damn!

(I keep checking it on line, so far so good)
Better check it again right after this post. hah

I bought something from Target online, during the timeline. I have monitered my account, but I heard it was only from the in-store card scanners.

Anyone hear anything different?

Cars, saw something on ABC news that some Target gift cards sold, were improperly activated at check out. Better have grandson check it out. Did not see whole story, it was one of those crawling news feed things at bottom of screen.

I don't understand gift cards or gift vouchers.

I don't understand the logic of exchanging money (which is accepted everywhere universally forever) for a gift card (which is accepted in one store or franchise only for a limited time period)
