.......You gotta go.
If people have clicked on this thread thinking it is my farewell thread? IN YOUR DREAMS MOTHERFUCKER!
No, I'm talking about when you die, have you made arrangements? What are you doing? Burial? Cremation?, is a padre going to be there? What about a wake?
When you gotta go how you gonna go?

No, I haven't made arrangements but I've made my wishes known. Closed casket! I'm not so sure I even want a funeral. I lean towards no.

Family knows already, but I want them to burn my arse up and scatter the ashes all over my hunting grounds.
Ashes to ashes , dust to dust.

I'm definitely not having a funeral.
My body is going to medical research.

Whatever is the most comforting for those who are left behind. How's that for politically correct?

Sigh....we had to ask Mike that very question today. His friend Kirk did the asking because I just couldn't.
As for me. Burial. I want a Catholic Mass. Then I want everyone to party and be happy and celebrate the fact that I will be in heaven with my loved ones. No sadness.

I think that the ritual of something ceremonial whether it is a burial or a memorial service certainly helps with the grieving process and letting go for those left behind.

I think the ritual/service is sometimes more important than others. My nana didn't want any service and that was totally okay with me. My last pictures of her in my head were of her enjoying that 100 y/o birthday. And I didn't need to hear a bunch of people talk about how wonderful she was; I know it.
I think rituals are more important if you have a vast circle of friends/acquaintances whatever...somebody in there is going to be majorly disappointed if they don't get all the "traditions" (including religious traditions). I don't have that problem and I doubt a memorial service for me would fill a parking lot at 7-11.
I haven't put my wishes in writing which I need to do because I could totally see my family disregarding them. I want to be cremated (after a few days--when I'm definitely good and dead) and then I thought I wanted to have my urn buried with a small marker. A little place on the earth "user was here". My husband wants his ashes spread over the lake where we have our cabin. I dunno, I guess if we don't come to some agreement beforehand, whomever dies second will have to decide if we stick together or go our separate ways in eternity. :/
I definitely don't want a formal memorial/religious service. If some close family and friends want to get together and have a potluck bbq and some beer and wine and do some reminiscing, fine. No organ music, no churches...I'll accept a small shrine though. One, small picture (if I have time to find one that meets my standards before I go) with a few flowers and candles around it. If they don't get all carried away, they can make it a table centerpiece or something.
Ya' know on headstones how they typically give a date such as February 9, 2960-January 17, 2014? Someone told me recently we're all living in the dash.

Funny, as I approach 50 I think about this a little more. I need to get off my ass and make a will. To me, having a casket and getting buried is absolutely pointless. Reduce my dead ass to a 2 lb pile of ashes, and scatter me over any golf course. I'm good.
Of the millions of sperm injected into your mother's pussy, you were the quickest?
You are no longer in the womb, friend. The competition is tougher out here.

Not since I moved here. There is a Catholic Church across the street from my hood. I might try it out and see his I like it.
