Ever been stalked online? Ever had someone pretend to be you online?
Some law makers want to give it a name - rape by proxy - the police call it cyber stalking and they are fighting for stiff sentences for doing it, they want to make it a felony. I support that. Yup.
A husband pretended to be his ex-wife and at the end of the day that fucker got 115 years in the slammer. See me clap like a seal.

I've never been stalked. But I agree it should be a felony with stiff penalties.

What??? Granted, I didn't read the story but 115 years for pulling an online stunt like that? No wonder our prisons are stuffed. That's insane.

This is the basis of the case -
Michael Johnson was sentenced in July to 115 years in prison after prosecutors say he posed as his ex-wife on the Internet to solicit sex. Angell Williams and her children lived in fear as hundreds of men showed up at their home over a 45-day period in 2012.
The men were sent to her home by fake online profiles created by Johnson, claiming to be his ex-wife, even posting pictures of Williams and the children with their address, one titled “rape me and my children.”

The guy is a total fucking asshole but 115 years?!
I don't think the unabomber got a sentence that harsh, jesus.
(I'm aware the unabomber probably got a long sentence but.....just sayin!)

I'm thinking once you give any reasonably aged adult a sentence over 50 years, you've pretty well fucked their life. Getting out of the can at 68+ after 50 years inside would be some kinda shit..
115 years is just crazy in this case..

I spent a little time to see if I could find why the sentencing was so extreme - he was convicted of assaulting her a few years ago and protective orders weren't keeping him at bay, he was constantly violating them, the judge told him at his sentencing that she would have to be stupid to think another court order would work at this point. He threatened death to his ex on a regular basis, often saying, "I know the police will kill me after I kill you, I'm ready to die, are you". One of the men who responded to the bogus sex ads attempted to sexually assault one of their daughters, there's more but you get an idea of what a tool this guy is.
It makes me very happy to know that law enforcement are now, more than ever before, giving weight to cyber bullshit.

The sentence is so long because there were so many charges/counts against him - each one carries a separate penalty.
Some of the penalty time for various charges was sentenced to be served concurrently with penalty time for other charges, so it doesn't equate to 115 years real time.
Johnson ^ is an evil asshole who, IMO, solicited the rape and assault of not only his ex-wife but also his own children (the "cyber" part is irrelevant to me). He was found guilty of 70 counts of domestic abuse, including stalking, reckless endangerment and multiple violations of a protective order.
Under the sentencing agreement, he is to be incarcerated for 85 years (30 years of the sentence to be served concurrently).
He was convicted of all of those separate charges and therefor 115 years is an appropriate penalty IMO; 85 years real time is okay by me, too. I can't think of a penalty too harsh for Johnson, short of execution. His ex-wife's and kids' lives may be saved by the fact that Johnson has no chance of ever living another day outside of prison walls.
