TORRANCE, Calif. (AP) — Toyota delivered a surprise pink slip to California on Monday, announcing the company would move its U.S. headquarters and about 3,000 jobs from the Los Angeles suburbs to the outskirts of Dallas.

And then all together in a while they will sing...boys round here (Blake Shelton), as genuine country folks.. Which is splendid, because someone must keep it country.

Rick Perry and them damned Republican cowboys with their enticing "incentives".

Seriously, I understand Scotto's decision to move out of the state. It is tough and expensive to operate in California. It's smart to relocate to a place where the cost of doing business is lower and there aren't actually financial disincentives (mostly tied to labor laws) associated with growing and adding employees.

I wish I thought this major loss for the state would send a message and have an impact on business regulations and business/employer taxes in California, but I don't. Toyota's not the first to jump ship and the outward migration has not made the state any more business-friendly.

It sucks that the politicians that are voted in to help are usually the ones that screw things up the most. Not a single one of them are even trying to stop government expansion into every facet of life until its voting time.
