BIRTH CONTROL SUCCESS IN COLORADO

While anti-abortionists across the country are working to make it more difficult to get abortions by closing down facilities that also provide family planning and birth control services (thereby creating a need for more abortions by overworked doctors, IMO -- nuts), Colorado has gone in the opposite direction with impressive results.

The good news:

Snip:
Gov. John Hickenlooper announced that the teen birth rate in Colorado dropped 40 percent from 2009 through 2013, driven by a Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment initiative that helps low-income women get long-acting reversible contraceptives.

“Unintended pregnancies, especially among teenagers, carry health risks for mother and baby,” said Dr. Larry Wolk, department executive director and chief medical officer. “Our Colorado Family Planning Initiative has helped thousands of young women who weren’t ready to have children avoid pregnancy with affordable, safe and effective contraceptives.”

The Colorado Family Planning Initiative has provided more than 30,000 intrauterine devices (IUDs) or implants at low or no cost to low-income women at 68 family planning clinics across Colorado since 2009. The decline in births among young women served by these agencies accounted for three-quarters of the overall decline in the Colorado teen birth rate.

“This initiative has saved Colorado millions of dollars,” said Gov. Hickenlooper. “But more importantly, it has helped thousands of young Colorado women continue their education, pursue their professional goals and postpone pregnancy until they are ready to start a family.”

Good news.........................Paris Hilton is making another Carl's Junior commercial!!!.Smiley_emoticons_hurra3

I like the new suit.

She's 33 now -- her previous commercial for the chain was 9 years ago. People have been on the edge of their seats awaiting another for almost a decade.

Today's announcement that the time has come has reportedly incited mobs of people across the nation to break out in dance (okay, I made that last part up).

It's awesome.

I really hope to see the initiative replicated in other states.

Take any moral and religious factors outta the equation and there's absolutely no reason for any state not to implement something similar from a social and economic perspective, IMO.

Aside from a 40% reduction in unplanned teen births, the teen abortion rate has also declined by 35% in the five years since the initiative was launched.

And, while the state of Colorado has subsidized or paid for the birth control, the financial benefits exceed the costs. The infant caseload for Colorado WIC, a program that provides nutrition education and support to low-income women and their babies, fell 23 percent from 2008 to 2013. And Colorado saved millions in health care expenditures associated with teen births, $42.5 million in public funds in 2010 alone based on the latest available data.

All very good stuff.

How could any state not want to accomplish that. Seriously. You just know there will be some who won't even give it a second look.

Those numbers are fantastic, surely it will make people notice.

The famous star with cheese smells good and tastes even better.

I'm talking about the one on the menu, not the one in the swimsuit!

(The famous star is my favorite fast food cheesburger.)

First, the good news for aviation buffs...
If you're rich, you now have a chance to own two of Elvis Presley's private planes, "The Hound Dog" and "The Lisa Marie"! Smiley_emoticons_hurra3

The planes are owned by K.G. Coker who purchased them after The King died in 1977. His agreement with Elvis Presley Enterprises has just expired and he's now soliciting bids.

If you submit the winning bid, you can party like a rock-star in the four-engine "Lisa Marie", featuring a queen-size bed, gold bathroom fixtures, a videotape system with four TVs and a stereo system with 52 speakers.

The tail section on the 1960 Convair 880 features Presley's trademark "TCB" -- for "Taking Care of Business" -- and a color scheme personally chosen by Elvis.

Now, the bad news for wanna-be owners...
You can't fly the planes because they're museum pieces, and Priscilla Presley is vowing to fans that she will try to keep the planes as part of the Graceland tour.

Plus, the white polyester jumpsuit is not included. Crying-into-tissue

I wonder why she would use the word "try". His estate certainly has the funds to purchase them. I'm just thinking out loud, so to speak.

Priscilla posted that she's in negotiations with Coker.

There are a lot of very rich plane lovers; some of them may have more money than the Presley peeps.

She's particularly concerned about one of the Jackson Five making a winning bid; she'll do anything to keep from letting a Jackson get inside Lisa Marie again. (Ok, I made that part up; they're always broke anyway and did Michael ever really go there?)

This is the only version of 'Lisa Marie' he would be comfortable getting into. And it has a cockpit. I heard he wanted to go to Walmart the day he saw 'Boys Pants HALF OFF' in the newspaper.

MJ was a tabloid's dream -- no doubt about it.

God that was one odd couple; they make a Kardashian marriage look authentic in comparison.

I remember thinking that they kinda had to do their world exclusive newlywed interview with Dianne Sawyer, who else could keep a straight face? Hard to believe that was almost 20 years ago, feels like only 17 or 18.

Paris is breaking important new ground for some career-minded women in the US, aussie.

There is no one in this country who's done more to open up the world of professional Spin/Scratch Club DJing to female millionaire reality/sex-tape stars.

No one (except maybe that chick Lindsay Lohan dated for a bit).
