This man's attorney is concerned that his client's appearance will influence the jury and the judge intends to ask potential jurors if there is anything about the man's appearance that would keep them from being fair. He is accused of torture, murder & dismemberment. I'd suck as a juror, I found him guilty the moment I laid eyes on him. Could you be fair & impartial?

Absolutely I could. A man's body modifications has nothing to do with his responsibility for his crimes. If he's innocent in my eyes, then he's innocent regardless of what he looks like. If he's guilty he can rot like the rest of em on death row. His appearance shouldn't have anything to do with his legal case.

For me it's more about the fact he's being charged torture, murder and dismemberment. For some strange reason I've never been accused of torture and dismemberment. Oh yeah, that's because I never did it.

Id certainly say that I'd stand a much better chance of beating a murder/torture/dismemberment rap than that guy.
Appearance HAS to matter to most people, regardless of what they say.

Honestly it doesn't matter to me unless I'm hiring you to work for my company. That kind of look really isn't good for business unless it's something music related. If the guy was walking behind me at the store I would hold the door open and smile like I would for an 80 year old lady, however. I wouldn't look at the guy and just automatically assume he's scum of the earth.

The attorney's concerns are justified. It's human nature for people to judge a book by it's cover. And this guy's appearance/cover reeks as though he could/would torture, murder, & dismember people. (perception, is reality to many)

I wouldn't give a shit what he looked like as to guilt or innocence, he does look like an asshole so I would consider him an asshole. but that doesn't make him a murdering asshole, thats what evidence is for

Well, when one wears the mark of the debil it's hardly innocent and given he had it put there himself it would indicate to me that it's how he wants to be perceived. When you present yourself to me in that fashion, that's exactly how I'm going to take you.

I know I couldn't be fair and impartial with this freak. I have yet to meet a normal, hardworking, contribute to society person with any kind of tattoos or other stupid shit on their face.

I don't mind tattoos... even face tattoos of 666 on your forehead. I could handle that. I can handle nose piercings and face piercings in general too. I won't say it wouldn't subconsciously play a part in my opinion of you and your guilt/innocence, but I think it'd be negligible enough that I could rationally and logically assist in a ruling of this case.
But when you get face implants to look like devil horns... I draw the line. If that's the extreme you go to in order to make people afraid of you, I'll play my part in assuming you're some 'absolute badass who would totally torture, murder, and dismember somebody.'

Yeah, I could sit on the jury and not consider his appearance in deciding whether he should be found guilty or not.
Lotta people around here have all kinds of visible tattoos, piercings, funky hair. Those kinds of face implants are very rare, but I don't have any reason to believe that people who have them are murderers.
If the evidence against him is solid, I'd find him guilty. If it's very flimsy and the defense attorney claimed that his client was wrongly zeroed-in on by police because of his appearance or lifestyle, I'd consider that possibility if the attorney made a compelling case for it.
