The Pats were fined a million bucks. I don't think four games is a lot, 8 would have been better.
I'm not a Pats hater nor do I have a hard on for Tom Brady but I think a four game suspension borders on insignificant. I'm sure that if you asked any team owner out there if they were willing to pay 1 mil and lose thier star QB for 4 games 100% would take the superbowl win, pay the mil and walk away proud.

Oh hell yeah. No doubt about it. The first round pick doesn't hurt them either. Bellicheck has always been able to turn nothing into something.

I don't feel as if sufficient punishment has been dealt.

Wait until it gets thrown out on appeal, then you'll really be pissed

Yeah I'd bet the 4 game suspension gets cut down to 2 at least. Goody came down harder on Brady for his lack of cooperation or apology, basically just denying everything. The first round pick loss /does/ hurt them specifically because they turn nothing into something. They usually get a late round first, spend it on whichever talented player fell due to scheme or character concerns, or if nobody like that is there, they trade back to the second round. That's Belicheck's MO and he'll be pissed he can't use that next year when "he did nothing wrong." Both Beli and Kraft will argue the organization did nothing wrong, Tommy boy will deny and blame everything on the equip managers, and Brady will go through the NFLPA to put the decision to a private arbitrator who will reduce or throw out the suspension.
But that's fine by me, since the Pat's bye week is week 4 and a 4 game suspension would mean no Brady when Dallas plays them week 5. I want the Pats to be at full strength when they play our rivals.

People will be calling him a cheat for years to come, maybe forever and Tom Brady, one of the greatest QB's ever has got to find a way to explain to his kids why he choose to cheat.

The NFL is really going to fine, take draft picks, and tarnish the career of their greatest players ever on conjecture and probabilities? Sure looks that way... but I think this is all public relations optics.
I think this is more about Goodell trying to show he is tough after his complete bungling of the Ray Rice fiasco. During the investigation Brady was available and answered every single one of the questions they asked him.The NFL is just pissed that Brady wouldn't give them his personal cell phone - they admitted as much in the report. They say that is him not being cooperative, so they are trying to punish him for it.
After reading most of the report, I'm not even sure Brady gets a two game suspension after appeal, Cutz. This is so weak I wouldn't be surprised if the whole thing gets tossed - including the lost pick and the fine. Suspending a player essentially because they wouldn't hand over their phone is ridiculous... there is no evidence that Tom Brady or the NE Patriots did anything wrong in the report.
This is a tempest in a teapot IMO. Brady is one of the best quarterbacks to have ever played the game, and he didn't get that way by 'cheating'.

He needs a fuckin' therapist.
I think his golden boy image is an illusion too.
Fantastic looking man with out of this world skills, supermodel wife, gorgeous children, more money than he will ever be able to spend and he resorts to a measure that will give him a leg up on the other guy and then stood in front of God and everyone saying he didn't know what was going on. I was prepared to give him the benefit of doubt but not any more.

And don't forget, he stood in front of everyone wearing that ridiculous hat.
That alone should get a couple of extra games tacked on.

Every quarterback in the NFL likes their balls prepped. Every single one of them. Some like them roughed up, some like them at the high end of the inflation limit, some at the low end. This is nothing new, and certainly isn't what has ever been considered cheating in the past. Hell, just last year the Panthers and Vikings were caught red-handed warming up balls on sideline heaters during a cold day and nothing happened to either team.
The NFL is who needs a therapist. So they are taking two picks from the NE Patriots, and fining the organization $1M. Sounds great, until you read what the report says: "In particular, we do not believe there was any wrongdoing or knowledge of wrongdoing by Patriots ownership, Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick or any other Patriots coach in the matters investigated."
So after investigation we don't believe they did anything wrong, but we're going to take their picks and fine them anyway. Ridiculous.

I completely agree that's ridiculous. That report was skewed from the get go. Had this been any other QB besides Tom or Peyton the shit would have hit the fan in a very real way. I firmly believe that. I think the punishment is bullshit to appease the masses and it didn't even do that.
I have zero expectations where the NFL and Roger Goodell are concerned, no expectations, no faith whatsoever.

What would you have told your kids if they came to you and said they wanted to deflate their balls before a game because it gave them a better grip or what if you found out they were gifting those who did it for them and then they denied any knowledge of it?

I don't think pee wee football cares that much. But we do hold our athletes to a higher standard than we do our politicians.
