I've been on a mission to get rid of all my plastic. Most of my kitchen utensil bullshit is now silicone & stainless and now I have to get up off my storage containers and turn to glass. The struggle is real. Am I the only one who even thinks about this kind of stuff?

I like my handy-dandy plastic containers and never think about getting rid of them unless they get damaged.

Why are you getting rid of your plastic storage tubs?
Make sure you recycle! It pisses me off when people don't recycle.

Because I think it would be a healthier choice to store food in glass rather than plastic. I don't want to get too carried away here. I bought all new storage containers over the Summer, I think they're great, all fresh & clean with red lids and I'm trying not to think about glass.
If I were to recycle them it would simply mean I gave them away.

Actually she's not, there is mounting evidence that plastic leaches all kinds of nasty shit into your food, especially if you heat things in it or microwave. Duchess, you aren't alone, me and the g/f have replaced our plastic with glass, and even got rid of our Keurig for a good old fashioned percolator which she is starting to love. Probably get a french press setup, because of all the plastic tubing in the new machines. We also went stainless on the utensils and pans d/t concerns over teflon and aluminum re: dementia. Fuckin internet, ruining everybody's fun.

I don't have anything plastic in my kitchen, not even storage containers. I don't have a microwave either because my freak husband doesn't like them. We do drink a lot of bottled water, however.

Yes of course I've had a microwave. I had a wall oven with a microwave and warming drawer and when that broke I replaced it with a double oven. So now I'd have to buy a countertop microwave, but I'm not crazy about a bulky microwave sitting on my counter. So that and my husband bitching about them causing cancer is why I don't have one.
The only thing I really miss about it is heating up leftovers. And we don't eat much frozen food, but once in a blue moon it would be nice to cook a fucking chicken pot pie in less than the 45 mins. it takes in the regular oven.

I use the micro a lot, mostly for warming up a bit of this or that, not actually for cooking. But I can't imaging doing without one. We have one in both kitchens.
That thing with the cancer is just silliness, it cooks by vibrating the molecules in the food.

I'm mostly ok without it, it's only once in a while that I think "damn, it would be really nice to have a microwave".
I definitely don't miss it for popcorn. Popcorn tastes so much better cooked on the stove and it's not difficult at all. Not as easy as putting it in the microwave and pushing a button of course, but still pretty easy.

Does your husband realize most foods cooked in restaurants are actually reheated in a microwave just before it's served to you?

I took all of my Tupperware to the salvos yesterday. Along with two duffel bags of clothes, some furniture, a ton of fucking books and some paintings. Those fuckers rub their hands together when they see you backing in with a trailer.

This is incorrect unless you're eating at shitty restaurants.

I do that every once in a while and they will give a receipt saying whatever you think its worth. That becomes my charitable donation when its tax time and I usually get back 30% of whatever that comes to. Last year I was able to take off 600.00 off my yearly gross.
