Trump is a con artist playing to our absolute worst impulses as a nation, and he is making us look like utter morons to the rest of the planet. None of what he says makes any kind of logical sense to anyone but the most fearful or simpleminded, and the tiniest bit of research on his claims exposes them for the horseshit that they are.

None of them care, not one single supporter cares a wit that damn near every word out of his mouth is a lie or embellishment. I think that speaks more to who they are rather than who Trump is. When you don't have standards you're willing to settle for someone like him. This is a man that many of his supporters would never hire to do business for them yet they'll try to put him in the White House so he can do America's business. Go figure.

It's no secret that I think Trump is a scammer and wholly unqualified to lead this country.

But, I don't disagree with everything he says just because it's coming from the mouth of Trump.

I do not support U.S. intervention, especially taking out other countries' leaders (even the terrible ones), without a solid plan for filling that vacuum with something better and without a plan to manage the short and long-term impacts of forced regime change.

I've always disagreed with the timing and execution of our intervention in Libya; we made the same mistakes there as we've made in other countries. I also agreed disagreed with Clinton's apparent desire to overthrow Assad and arm the 'rebels' in Syria early on, for several reasons.

I'm not gonna pretend like I agreed with her positions on those issues now just because Trump says he doesn't agree with her positions on those issues either. THAT would be simpleminded and dishonest, Donovan.

I'm thinking that's only partly true. The hardliners don't care, for sure. They just want "regular assgrabbin, furriner hatin joe" in the white house so it will truly be white again. And male.
But the oldsters are just terrified of monsters under the bed, bombers in the backyard, and those might be swayed by a concentrated effort by the media to push reason over reaction. We're starting to see even Fox news pull back from the repugnant little toad-man, as the Republican party realized how badly it fucked up. I'd predict a Trump buyout by or at the convention, where they pay him to go away and install a more controllable party player like Romney.

That would be their smartest move, because any halfway moderate intelligent conservative at this point would be a life preserver to those conservatives who hate Hillary but hate that Trump is their other choice.

Your psychic powers leave much to be desired. I agreed with some things in the beginning but when he started taking it up a notch with every rally I pulled back. I don't trust him to put America first. He has little to no self control, that doesn't exactly inspire confidence.

@HotD Yeah sorry you jumped ahead of my wordy ass. I agree with pretty much everything in your post, although I think our reasons for messing with the middle East from the beginning were a hell of a lot more about bringing Iran into a bargaining mood and depowering the Saudis, both of which have been accomplished at this stage. But obviously from a moral and ethical standpoint that behavior makes us look very, very ugly.

I agree that immigrants should come here legally and not sneak in
I agree that immigrants from war zones should be vetted better and scrutinized more.
I agree that in this country leaders tend to throw its soldiers into situations that cannot possibly be won.
I also believe that Hillary will not put this country first or its citizens unless its politically advantageous for her.
I also believe the President has to much power now and congress needs to be more involved in the process.
I also believe that both sides Democrats and Republicans should at least consider the others points, to me both sides are in lock step with their party and that's counter productive.
